Sunday, Aug 22; Usequan

Ciclovia - there was a dog march while we walked up to Usequan. Have no idea what it was for, but there were lots of pooches walking in unison with people. Here we have men on stilts.

Jane holding Aryan. Along with Tyler.

The girls at the park. From left - Tianna, Mira, Michelle and Gabriella.

The latest couple in town. Andrew and Mira. Dancing to Bollywood music. Isn't this supposed to start in the teenage years? I getting more grey just thinking about what is yet to come.

Mira tying her brother a 'rakhi' - a sacred thread. This is a revered festival in India which symbolizes the love between a brother and sister. By tying this thread on his wrist, the sister requests that the brother protect her as long as he lives - he promises to do so and also gives her a token gift. She places a 'tikka' (vermillion spot) on his forehead and gives him something sweet to eat. My sister tied me three - from her, from my oler sister and from my cousin sister in India. This is an important day back home.

Our guide explaining ancient traditions. This is the small hut where up to 32 folks gathered in two circles around the hot stones in the center (old time sauna - we pay a fortune for this now). The aim was to last the longest within the hut. As people leave, the circles become smaller. The last one standing (or sitting and sweating in this case) is annointed the leader.
Delicious lunch in the small town. One thing about Jorge - he will take you to authentic (and relatively cheap) Colombian food places. The chef (owner too) and I.

At the restaurant.

Saturday - Trip to Guatavita

Jorge and the native (indegenous) - outlining the ceramics that are hand made.

This is the tree we planted 2 years ago for Mira - a cedar wood - we were trilled to see it at this height. Next time around there will be a plaque in front too. Ari and Aaiyana (my sister' daughter) will have their trees too. Thanks Jorge!

At the top, with the magnificent lagoon as the back-drop. Pure air at it's finest here.

The surrounding scenery from the top.

And us three.

Saturday - Trip to Guatavita

The Henry family (Troy, Jane, Tyler and Tianna) and us.

En route, we stopped at a small restaurant for coffee, hot cheese buns and calls of nature. Just behind is a large area for outdoor activity - swings, trekking, horse riding et al. Here is Shilpa on a swing that towers over 10 meters.

Ari in the conference room.
The fabulous FANA logo. It indeed is a beautiful sight in bright sunshine.

We are now two weeks into our retun journey. Shilpa came in last night. Due to space constraints on Caring Bridge, we will post the remainder of our photos and videos through this blog. Friday, the 20th was for Freddy, FANA, Food Court (at Suba Mall) and Fun in the evening at the Tequila Museum. Enjoy.
Christina, Shilpa, Mira and Ari in the FANA lobby.

Mira and her brother at the mall

Awaiting our drinks at the Tequilla museum. Troy (from Toronto), Debbie, Shilpa and Christina.

Nothing like a good shot!

Just outside the restaurant. The Mariaci band had just started at 10pm when we left. The place is open till late.
